A Macintosh clone is a computer running the Mac OS operating system that was not produced by Apple Inc.The earliest Mac clones were based on emulators and reverse-engineered Macintosh ROMs.During Apple's short lived Mac OS 7 licensing program authorized Mac clone makers were able to either purchase 100% compatible motherboards or build their own hardware using licensed Mac reference.

Hi,

Hoping you can help.

#7daydev

I cloned my HDD to SSD using Acronis True Image and completed succesfully. However, now the SSD will not detect the Bootcamp partition even though I can see and view files on the Bootcamp partition, I cannot actually boot into this.

Can you advise on how I go about resolving this?

Thanks in advance

What's the version of OS X and the version of Acronis used for the clone?

When you boot the system from a cold start (power completely off) and hold the 'option' key, does it show the availability to boot into Windows bootcamp from there, or not even then?

OS X is El Capitan and I used ATI 2016 but this was done on a windows PC not on the Mac itself. But when booting SSD in Mac it doesn't recognise the windows/bootcamp partition on boot and neither does it show on a cold start.

thanks

You need to backup the entire disk using the Mac version of Acronis and not the Windows version of Acronis. The Windows version doesn't support OS X Journaled disks and will attempt to format based on Windows partition schemes during the restore.

Hello folks,
I have recently bought an iMac G3 Snow, w/ 500MHz processor. This things works well with Tiger installed, but has quite a noisy hard drive. I wish to replace the hard drive with a newer, faster, and quieter 30GB hard drive that I happen to have spare.
I had booted the iMac in 'Target Disk Mode', fired up my Macbook Pro, and connected the two computers via Firewire. I had then made a successful image of the iMac's HDD using Disk Utility. I then removed and replaced the hard drive in the iMac, and proceeded to restore the image to the new hard drive using Disk Utility again, also via Target Disk Mode.
Upon successfully restoring the image, I rebooted the iMac, only to find that the iMac cannot find the appropriate boot files. (ie, Question-mark w/ Finder folder logo error).
Any help to fix this would be muchly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Andrew
